Conditions remain unchanged over recent days.
That is to say, water on the low side but clear, with a piercing, blustery cold wind which inhibits casting.
Suspect water too cold to animate the salmon.
If they are running they are not showing.

Fished with my good fiend M B, who is even less experienced than me at fly fishing
Arrived at around 8:30 the river very low, weather cloudy with a cold down stream wind.
I started at the very bottom of the beat and M a little further up.
For me it was very hard going with to start, the wind hampered my casting and any fish that did show I couldn't cover. Then around 10:30 the sun came out and stayed out, and with it an enormous hatch of gnats and a few small mayfly.
I fished the clink and dink but despite casting at every fish I saw only two went for the dry, one was missed and the other lost.
I caught 2 graying one about 10 inches the other 4, and two trout also 10 inches and 4.
All of my fish were take on a GRHE.
M had two very small trout on a dry, which he persevered with all day.
The most surprising thing was that despite the fly life there were only sporadic rises, and fish rarely rose in the same place twice.
I did see quite a few nice fish but they just seemed to be cruising all over the place rather than staying on station.
A lovely day on a beautiful beat, would love to fish this place when they're on the feed!

Struggled to get any interest on or below the surface in very low water conditions. Nonetheless, this is a very nice stretch of water made all the better by lovely weather. Will return.

12 x trout 6-11 inches, Rusty Klinkhammer. Once again that icy wind was blowing. No fish rising, so prospected again with a single dry fly - some fish lying under the runs at head of pools were provoked to the surface, and a few fish did rise naturally by mid-afternoon. I totally failed to fish the top section above the house on the opposite bank, which is now badly overgrown. Pruning urgently needed! Also there are some access problems where fencing contractors have put barbed wire across field crossing stile and access points to the river.
