First time here in high water had a few hours this afternoon - fished the edge of the main current with feeder and pellet on hook. Took a while to get swim going but last hour hooked 6 fish landing 2 due to forgotten reed bed in front of me that I usually stand in!! Water now dropping went down 6-8” in 2 hours should be graat next week I reckon

Nothing to report as the Wye was unfishable for a third day running due to floods and trees floating down stream. Booked all 6 Whitney court beats for 4 days coarse fishing and managed to get 6 hours on the first day before the river rose to dangerous levels. It’s a good job the Agents house didn’t disappoint as usual as our stay was fabulous with Fiona and James.

Despite the river not being as high as yesterday, it was still pretty high but beginning to fine down. To my inexpert eye, it was right at the limit of fishable. More in hope than expectation I fished down the Rheld Flats as far as I could wade and also the Butts. I picked up a nice trout (1.5lb) on the Red Francis conehead but not sign of a salmon. I think the river will be at a good height tomorrow (Sunday) morning but a whole load more rain is due in the afternoon. Such is backend fishing! I also had a good chat with fellow angler David who was after trout with the streamer and had more persistence than me.

Not a bite all day on worm again . Power bait being used by a lot of anglers has spoilt the fishing will never be coming back the bailiffs need to be chucking anglers off the water for using it . This water is supposed to be worm, fly and spin
