Record reported floods during the day throughout mid, west and northern wales. Very grey, strangely warm and windy but no rain, with the river rising dramatically in just a couple of hours.
Very hard to get a line in and keep it in one spot. Less a case of "where are the fish?" and more a case of "where can I fish?". A couple of small areas of sheltered water but the river was pouring through and very murky. Huge fallen trees and dead sheep were amongst the debris streaming by faster than you could run. Not a nibble....

We arrived at the water and decided to analyse the stretch before getting our gear out of the van. Started the morning ,fishing a few pegs down from the upper limit. These pegs were unfishable after about 20 minutes due to the river level rising at such a fast rate.
Our friend and well known angler Chris Petter from Hampshire had the right idea of fishing the deeper part of the stretch at the lower limit. These pegs were snaggy but provided great fishing. Finishing the day with 11 barbel, largest of them at 9lb 10oz.

River high when we arrived and rising very rapidly. Made the fishing very difficult and only a couple of places on whole stretch that you could fish. Barbel were feeding though and two of us managed 6 between us and lost quite a few more. Other two blanked.
Other fish were 1 eel and 1 dace

6 Barbel, 2 Other
