Only fished 10 til 2 due to the ridiculous volume of canoe/kayak/paddleboard traffic. We're all used to it but yesterday was off the scale, as confirmed by an instructor on one of the boards who said it was the busiest day she'd known since lockdown. Hey ho, better luck next time, roll on Sept.

A hatch very late, maybe 10-10.30pm, though hard to match - a small olive and medium sedge worked a bit. Lost a big fish in the flats (on the sedge in near-dark), which went like a rocket for the far bank for a minute or two. Darn.

Lovely start to the day, some cracking trout and chub knocking about. On the dry fly had a bit of interest but no takes. Unfortunately after an hour or so I was asked to leave the land by representatives of the land owner saying I wasn’t welcome, I had no access rights and had to leave.. apparently the land owner is at odds with the Wye and Usk Foundation.

Fishing Passport Note : Please note that the following directions and notes on access should be followed precisely. If you are approached by a third party who informs you otherwise, please report this immediately to The Fishing Passport. They have no authority to obstruct access to the fishery which has been agreed to by the fishery and landowner.

Fished from Middleton to Low Force 9am - 1pm
Caught two small trout on nymphs on the lower section and two sizeable trout on drys further up in fast flowing water.
Didn’t see any rises in the rare areas of still water.
Plenty of action across the whole beat which made for good sport.
Will return.
