Rain overnight meant that river was rising when I arrived and already pushing through. Summer debris being washed down after dry spell. Walked length of beat before setting on Czech Nymphing approach. Lost a good fish early on, could have been a Grayling from the fight. Ended up with two trout the larger about a pound the other 8" long. Lovely stretch with relatively easy wading, (for the upper Wye) I will be back.

Somewhat quiet on the fish front. A bit more clearance is needed so you can more easily get access. Also a sign where to park would be helpful. However it's a beautiful stretch.

caught nothing all day. i used to love this beat for its almost guaranteed bag of big chub with the odd decent barbel thrown in, sadly that is no more.. totally devoid of fish, i spent over an hour walking the banks and did not spot a single fish apart from a few salmon jumping. will not be back..

Great weather and a fantastic setting for this first of 2 days. Action packed first hour with barbel of 10.5lb and 7.5lb, followed by a lull until the late afternoon when 4 chub came to the net from 4lb to 5.25lb. Nice to have the landowner show so much interest and listen to constructive feedback as to how to improve this venue still further (basically, please open up more swims in the downstream section as it looks fabulous but there was no way to fish the bottom half of the beat at all).
