This is a beautiful stretch of river which sadly is not even a shadow of its former self.
I walked the entire length of it this morning looking for fishable swims and could only find two that were recognisable.
I don’t see how it would accommodate four anglers in its current state. So be aware of this if you are thinking of booking it as a group.
It goes without saying that I didn’t fish here today and will not do so tomorrow either.
Wye and Usk: this beat could be so much better. It is certainly not value for money in its current state.

Bright sunny day, low water, very overgrown: it's September! Fished for a couple of hours, late afternoon, no hatching flies.
The meadows were full of daddy long legs, and had several splashy rises to dry patterns, but couldn't connect. One 10 inch fish to a grey duster lost at the net: joys of barbless! Had a look at other recent reviews: agree there are rarely rising fish here, but there are plenty in the river: in the 'dredged' middle section they throw up muddy trails as they are spooked and head off upstream! Two nice kingfishers.

River in good condition, clear and level pretty good for September. Stonefly hatches early on but no fish rising.
Very bright and difficult fishing but I did manage a perfect but small wbt on a #19 parachute Adams drifted down a narrow riffle. Made the day.

Very hot day and gin clear water resulted in a frustrating days fishing with no fish caught. No sign of the fish anywhere. Beautiful setting.

Easy access to the beat and great to be able to park on the bank. River conditions pretty good showing 10" on the Llanstephan Gauge. 6 wbt to 16" and 6 grayling to 16" caught between the two anglers. All but one taken on dries - Adams, sedge, F-fly. All fish returned safely. Plenty of variety on this water with some productive glides, riffles and very deep pools. Had an interesting and informative chat with the owner and already looking forward to fishing this lovely beat next season.
