The brook is very low and clear at the moment, but the fish are feeding. There was a Mayfly hatch around 2pm, which sent the the trout into a frenzy. However they didn't seem interested in any of my dry flies for some reason.
Eventually I managed to get some to take the nymph by doing a slow retrieve in the deeper pools. Really nice to be out again, even if I've forgotten how to cast!

Double-handed fly rod. A lot of blanket weed and algae, so viability not good. No fish seen. Despite that, I had a great day; thanks to Mick Sutton, the Ghillie. He has intimate knowledge of the water and is great company. I look forward to returning when water conditions are better and there are salmon coming through.

Two of us fished this lovely fished filled little river, proper jungle warfare stuff, once you’re in you’re in...which was fine until we’d fished our way almost back to the bridge and car where a very deep pool with no way around stopped us. After back tracking we found a way out and walked around a field before finding the road back to the car. After a break we made our way up stream of the bridge and carried on catching, mostly on nymphs with one or two on dries where casting was possible in the undergrowth. Plenty of fly life including Mayflies. A very enjoyable days fishing.
