Only my second outing for a Salmon and my first on the Wye. The river was quite coloured on arrival and falling which made wading interesting, the weather was glorious but much cooler and feeling quite autumnal. No salmon seen or caught, just one suicidal trout taking my fly despite me doing a reasonable job of casting and covering a lot of water, I felt like I deserved a Salmon but I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. A lovely day thank you.

Excellent morning on this beautiful river. The water was dropping and clearing after the recent heavy rain. Most trout took a scruffy hairs ear, although I did raise a couple just before midday when there was a brief hatch. 20+ to the net, between 6" and 10" and one giant at 14" from the bottom of a deep pool. This remains one of my favourite streams.

Another lovely day on a favourite WUF beat. Water still high but running clear. Less fly than on previous day but still enough to bring the odd fish to the surface. 14 fish to 15” on a mixture of dries and nymphs.
