Not any action in the morning, apart from a lovely brown trout. In the afternoon I caught my 6 on the worm, with a 2 ft trace. Weather was breeze towards me ,mixed cloud mainly with some sun. The Usk is a beautiful place to be.

Area:Upland Llyns

Beat:Llyn Bugeilyn

Fishing:Trout (Stillwater)

No. of Anglers:2

First time we'd fished Llyn Bugeilyn for about 7 years, and it didn't disappoint. Fished from about 10am to 6pm and lost count of the number of fish caught, well in excess of 20 fish each. Black flies fished near the surface doing the trick, with some big takes and plenty of good size fish for an upland lake.

As mentioned in a previous report the track to the lake has been improved since our last visit.

WARNING - Print off the the Map and Directions or write down the gate padlock code prior to visiting. On arrival the gate was closed with no padlock. When we left the padlock was on the gate. Fortunately I had the foresight to write down the padlock code and when I checked my emails I was unable to view the attachments with the code on due to no phone service in the area.

Beautiful remote surroundings! I would pick the hottest day in July so far to experience this wild stream, 24 degrees.
So not the most favourable conditions for trout but a beautiful day none the less. Eventually managed to winkle out 2, on a Jonathan Barnes Black magic nymph. I only saw 1 rise in the whole day. No takers on the dry fly.
Would go again but not in July.
