Very non descript dull weather this morning !!! I bowled up at one of my local beats , not that warm, but not bad !!! The promise of rain later, much needed I'd say ....She was very low ..... I fished between half ten and one ...I'm actually sat in my truck doing this, scoffing a very moreish sarnie from Best One in Rhayader ...Great scran in there folks !!! Anyway, the fishing, tough in fairness...Three small fish, All about seven/ eight inches, two on the baetis nymph as I fished duo .... And a nice surprise as one did hammer my olive klinkhammer.... tight in to the marginal growth ... ....
There were a few bugs about by half eleven. A smattering of large Darks and two I couldn't make out in their fleeting flight!! Didn't look like March Brown's... Brook duns ??? Seems a bit early possibly !!! Anyway, spring activity was in full swing....
Skinned frogs , lots of them at Tarkas obvious feeding location..They don't like the sour skins of frogs, so unzip them and scoff the meaty bits !! Gruesome way to croak it, excuse the pun !!! Lol .....
Anyway, I was pretty chuffed with my winter handy work in fairness. It was much needed here. A good haircut and some trouty refuge areas done. She's looking pretty chic now ......Although obvious dead woody structures left in situ .... great trout habitat....
A fun session on one of my favourites, I'll be back soon, on the Edw next week in between sessions on the Upper Wye and Elan Valley .... River time is always time we'll spent hey . Fish won't be in their feed lanes here for probably another few weeks in fairness , searching with the duo method is fun, but kind of a halfway house, a suck it and see tactic hey !! My fav is still targeted risers on these small streams... love it !!!! Dry fly reigns supreme soon ... happy days........

Sunny, windy day with river low and clear. Nice beat but bank access needs some work to justify the ticket price .
