First time at Greenbank and I was as optimistic as ever. The colony of cormorants fishing the tail pool that greeted me sank my spirits a little. But really it it was the very low water that was the central issue. There were several salmon jumping in the tail pool, including a good fish of about 15lb, but they were all very red fish. The flow was so slow though it was hard to really make a go of it. No noticeable hatch or trout riding either. Very hard going.

Very enjoyable day again. Much harder going here than last week but not surprising as I was wading again and could tell the water was markedly colder. It certainly had a chill to it. I ended up with 3 barbel (to 6lb) which took a lot of coaxing and lots of chub which were more cooperative. A couple of which were over 5lb. I went home a happy chappy.

Lots of trout rising and jumping but tricky to tempt in the still hot conditions.
Sad seeing a sewage outfall pipe with very smelly discharge going straight into the river. Was only thing that detracted from the beat.

Lovely beat. Water low. But not as low as I thought it would be considering how dry it's been.
