River was at 1'5", dry all day and quite sunny in the afternoon. Was hoping on that basis to see some fly activity but only the odd olive and two rises seen. All fish on either a grhe or P/T nymph. Pair of mink as bold as brass - lots of remains of their mini lobster lunches too.

It was good to be back on the river again. I was full of anticipation, dampened by the knowledge that chemicals and chicken effluent have striven the salmon population and that I was unlikely to catch. The river was running a little high and the water coloured but, that said, the pools were all easily accessible, although somewhat more difficult to egress with the slippery Wye mud rendering studs near-useless! No sign of any salmon but lots of kingfishers darting up and down the river and red kites circling on the thermals overhead. All in all a most enjoyable day but, alas, no fish.

No fish today, tried all the tricks - spinning mepps, tobies, float worm, ledger but nil, started late around 10 am, flat calm nothing rising, tried the slip West end, also side of dam, then front of burger van East, light breeze picked up around lunch time. Lovely day though! Always next time. By the way stop leaving your litter, you know who you are, you are ruining a beautiful place.
