Very low and clear! Had a couple of hours but no fish seen. Lovely location but shame to see what looked like rubbish from farm dumped and and what looked like signs of vegetation treated with herbicide nearby

Water lovely but very windy. Difficult casting. Would definitely recommend and come back in better weather conditions.

2 Chub

Couldnt work out how to get to the waterworks parking, not even with Google Earth, so walked the lower beat. Tried a range of techniques for the afternoon but none seemed to work. No rises seen.

Fished from the top of the beat, but all 3 fish caught around the road bridge on nymphs, biggest was only 7 inches.

2 Trout, 1 Grayling

Arrived to find a very low river but good cloud cover and plenty of hatches in evidence.
I started on dry fly and took a nice fish (2lb) from Parsons Pool, where rising fish were in evidence but tricky to tempt.

John, my friend fished upstream nymphs and took 3 heavy brownies (2.5, 2 and 1.5lbs). It was nice to be able to access parts of the stretch not normally wadeable but this was balanced by the challenge of presenting a fly correctly in such skinny water. As the day progressed the wind increased until blowing a gale downstream and the sun came out making fishing almost impossible.

We had a mystery to solve as there was a group of people in gloves and masks underneath the arch of the aqueduct, they looked to be busy bagging things and generally industrious (no impact on the fishing I hasten to add). It turns out they were surveying the local bat population and they remarked that that there was a healthy colony present some 50 -60.

All fish were returned and we had a great day despite the increasing challenging conditions.
