I fished the river Ogwen following the generous advice of the Fishing passport folks and with the recommendations given by the Ogwen fishing association. I focused my efforts on the evening although the river was rather high. No surface activity was to be seen, bright moon and cloudless but mild night. I managed to catch a 19" sewin that provided fantastic sport.

Area:Irfon & Ithon
Beat:River Cammarch
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
After checking the river levels opted for the Cammarch as there appeared to have been more rain in the area with the Irfon up a couple of feet. There had obviously been quite a spate last week which had all but cleared.
The river looked good but fish were hard to find.
Only managed 2 on a small nymph.

First time I have been back in Herefordshire when there has been enough water to fish. Met at beat by otter who was surprised to see me, dived and never seen again. 8 grayling , a couple around 8", the rest 12" to 14" , caught in fits and starts on a GSB and deers hair emergers along length of beat. Forgot wading stick so a bit limited and not as nimble as I used to be.
One Trout 14" when trying klink and dink. Took the klink and had a grayling on dink at same time which came off as I tried to net them both. Was 'joined' at lunchtime by a couple who announced they had been ages trying to find somewhere that they could access the river for a walk and a picnic. Advice that beat was private land and not public access went straight over their heads and did not stop them staying.
Will be back again end of October with wading stick

Fished from dawn for a few hours, had a good chub (4lb) on the first cast, so was hoping for a bumper day. Unfortunately that was the only fish of the 5hrs.
Nice place to be however so all good.
