River at 0.4 on the Ross gauge and clear, skies and temperature perfect.
Two fished the meadow, one of whom tried up the top in the afternoon, and one fished the Lucky Stones. All bar one of the chub came from the Lucky Stones so very peggy yesterday. I'm a lot more mobile than my more mature mates so the woods weren't a problem but in damp/wet it is still very tricky, particularly on the way in, requiring one hand to be free to grab grass at the trickiest bit!
8 good chub with the biggest 4.14 and the rest between 1 - 2lb. Could only catch chub on meat or maggot and no bites when I sat it out for barbel on large pellets or boillies.

First visit to this beat, set in a lovely, steep sided valley. All the beat details and notes spot on and helpful.
Hard to tell from the gauge/webcam what is a normal level but on the day, water level seemed low. Water clarity not bad, a touch hazy and a reasonable amount of slimy weed in some stretches.
Didn't have much luck, only 2 Grayling caught, struggled to find the fish. Some signs of surface feeding between 11am-1pm but had no luck with dries. Tried nymphs, both fish caught on nymphs.
With water low, seems like a beat where you have work on getting to the right spots and be creative - so would suit shorter rod set up. Can't decide whether it was just one of those days or my river craft exposed....probably the latter!

2 nice chub and a barbel around 4lb - Swim on the left is easy to access had fish from both areas and lost a couple. Simple feeder set up - frenzied hemp and caster groundbait and hinders barbel bombs. Managed to get down to the bank and back up easily enough in a hatchback

Started just before midday on a mild and bright day and had a barbel 1st cast then just when you’re thinking here we go you’re brought back to reality and nothing happened for the next 3-4hrs ! Tried another swim and had another barbel then back to my original swim and a chub promptly snagged me up so moved all my gear back to the 2nd swim and in the last hour someone flipped a switch as I ended up with four barbel to just under 8lb and 3 chub to exactly 5lb as well as another big chub slipping the hook. So a good session had ! What I would say is check your hooklink every cast as the rocks cause damage. Definitely return. Good to meet the ghillie Mick. The bailiff has made a difference to this stretch regarding swims it’s a shame some other stretches don’t have that personal involvement
