River low and still not many fish showing. Good hatch of spinners and a good show of mayfly, so surprised more fish not showing. Saw 200+ fry in the shallows, which is a good sign. Changeable weather may of kept the fish from showing more.

My first day out, enjoyed being on the river and amongst the great birdlife.

I'm new to this so no experience (might book a lesson), but as you would expect, very low water, not much activity and no fish caught.

Very tough conditions. Usk is as low as we've known it and bright hot sunshine most of the day. All but a couple of the stretches of faster water are too skinny to hold fish and the slower stretches are even slower. Only 9 fish between three of us but of those three were at 2lb and two at 1lb.

Good hatch and evening rise after about 8pm, with fussy fish sometimes taking a small emerger (16) and later a medium dun (14). Five fish up to 15 inches - generally seemed rather smaller than upstream. Some murk in the water now - algal bloom?
