Difficult day, water cloudy to start but cleared through day but the wind was much stronger than forecast and made fishing very difficult. The cattle are very inquisitive so be warned. Also as they get into the river in places that also muddies the water.
Thanks to W&U team for the fishing they provide in some lovely areas.

Sunny evening on a quiet stretch of river. The wood at either end of the beat were very hard to get through/access. Some nice stretches below the upstream weir. No fish rising this evening - no luck on dry or nymph.

Pretty stretch of river & a fair amount of fence climbing & nettle bashing with my wading stick to access some stretches; I think I needed a little more stealth on the day. Spent a lot of time standing in the water changing flies/leaders trying to find the magic pattern to attract the bigger trout. A lot of tiny ??dace & salmon parr taking the smaller offerings. Did manage one decent trout in the end. Had the company of a herd of very sociable bullocks on & off throughout the day. Wonderful day thank you.

Lugg was quite low. Only v small stuff taking off the top hence no catch number registered. On yeah, and got chased by cattle as I exited the water before the weir.

Fish topping everywhere, ideal conditions and beautiful beat. Most fish produced at the bottom of the beat in deeper water. Will be returning again soon!

I was expecting more for a 20£ beat. The access from bank is very bad in the marked areas. However, it is too deep to cross wading. In summary, the beat has one nice spot, the weir at the beginning and that's it.

Good few hour's fishing. Fish rising all the time I was there. Fish taken off the top and deep on gold heads. Weather was overcast and warm.

A beautiful bright sunny day and very low, clear water made this a blank in terms of fish caught. Managed to get one or two trout to rise to a dryfly without takes; rises very sporadic and fish were mainly well down and out of the way due to the unfavourable conditions. But a lovely way to spend a day in such peaceful countryside. Barbel and chub observed in deeper lies beneath trees.

Sunny and hot. Found the farm easily. Car parking well signed. Lovely peaceful beat. Could see a few trout from the footbridge. Fish rising in the shady pools. Hooked into one but was broken off. Took a 10" grayling, my first ever, on beaded GRHE in pool next to fallen tree. Got a fish to rise to a dry but it didn't take despite 3 or 4 attempts.
Water low and cattle a little too friendly. Looking forward to coming back to this beat in the autumn.
