Hit the river spot on, didn't really matter what you did they were having it!

19 Barbel, 2 Chub

A very enjoyable day at MHC. Most of the rain had cleared by the time I arrived and conditions looked favourable with the river up a foot or so and heavily coloured. Access was very limited at the lower end of the beat but I found what was probably the only accessible swim downstream of the parking area. Here I managed 4 lovely looking barbel weighing from around 4lb to somewhere a little short of 9lb. Thanks WUF.

4 Barbel

looked great with coloured water on the rise , gently but surely felt like a struggle allday though. lost a few to snags and hook pulls but ended up with the 5 to 7lb or so all in great virgin like condition. Used piloni garlic soft pellets and ground bait. no fish on normal halibut pellets. car smelt like a French onion sellers van afterwards fish seemed to like the shade on the far bank until late on when middle of the river was more productive. 5 Barbel

River pushing through and up slightly. Very few swims at this venue and difficult to get down to river. Fished from about 8.30 until dusk. Started slowly and improved during the day. Alan caught 10 barbel, Dave 6 and Pete 5 (10lb 12oz PB for the Wye). Chub up to 41/2 lb. Caught on pellet and meat.

21 Barbel, 6 Chub

River had risen since yesterday when we fished The Creel. We fished the top pegs. 6 Barbel 7.5 llb 7.5lb 8lb 9lb 9lb 9lb. 1 chub 4.5 lb and 1 eel 3lb ! All fish in superb condition.

6 Barbel, 1 Chub, 1 Other

River up a bit and fast. Sporadic action kept the interest going on feeder and pellet. A very pleasant day in lovely surroundings.

6 Barbel, 6 Chub

A rising river but very controlled fishing after finding a swim away from the main race of the river. 10 Barbel to 8.8 lb and 4 Chub to 5.1lb. Fabulous day well worth the 250 mile round trip.

10 Barbel, 4 Chub

Starting at the top end of the beat we had a couple of barbel. A move downstream provided a few more, all caught on pellet with feeder/pva tactics. Anyone fishing in the coming days should watch out for a wasp's nest in a swim at the bottom end of the beat. The last couple of hours provided a lot of action at the top end. A great day on this stretch, we'll be back!

15 Barbel

Hi, not a bad day. My mate Mr Towne got two barbel in the first hour then it went quiet. I had nothing, moving three times. Then I had 4 nice fish best being 9lb. Then Mr Towne got another two late doors so not a bad day. Not a bad beat.
