25 trout and a few salmon parr. Lovely beat but very little fly life or surface activity today. Lost a really good trout after a long fight which I estimated at 3lb plus.
Most fish taken on double nymph and French Leader & the duo although some taken on dry. All fish fighting wildies. Most fish took the point fly, a JT flashback nymph.
WUF service excellent and most helpful.

River very high and pretty unfishable with no real pools or features visible. Wading difficult due to flow. Some colour in the water. Caught one very small brown trout at the downstream end of the beat close to bank in a slower section. About 6 inches long. Seemed v healthy. Caught on Shuttlecock Buzzer. Heard a couple of fish leaping.

Arrived on the water at 16.00 for the evening rise, again it was very good. 3 wbt until 18.30 then it went mad after that until 21.45. Finished with 14 wbt biggest at 16ins, most at 10-12 inches all on a alight tan sedge. Most fantastic evenings sport with most fish coming from abve the bridge. Cold until lunchtime with strong gusty winds and sharp showers, more like April than July. The water was somewhat coloured. I fished from 10am - 3pm and only caught 3/4 small fish 6 inches. Very few rises seen during this time although I did see a few mayfly!

The river was very full and fast, Julian was not happy wading, I fell but was ok. I went and fished below the bridge and caught a good brownie 8". It is a lovely spot and I hope to book it again soon.
