Bright hot sunny day but around 17-19 a developing thunderstorm gently passed over without any rain between Brecon and Sennybridge.
Rises started after 18 but most after 20.
Extremely difficult most fish were rising in de flats en backwaters hoovering for small emergers, probabky grey aphids and green aphids (i saw many on the surface and midair). These flies where refused:nr 18:pale spent, red spent, klinkhammer 16, BWO cdc 18, smalle sedges. A red cdc emerger 16 was taken and a 16 hares ear/cdc emerger was taken by a 16” trout.

6.30-10.30pm. Tough going for most of the night, the fish were feeding but showed only a sporadic interest in my offerings (one decent fish snapped my 6x leader, thereafter I upgunned to 5x). Really diverse hatch, so struggled to pin down exactly what they were feeding on.
Then from 9.45-10.15, they seemed to abandon caution and feed hard on the larger upswings. A para Adams then took two in quick succession, including a brute of 19+inches.

We fished from 17-22:30 200 yrds upstream bridge at the estate down 300 yards downstream.
Each caught 1 trout 10-12”.
Rising fish where ocasional. Some larger sibbling spents in shallow still bordersites but selective and hard to temptate.
Good variety of insects after 20:00 i.e. yellow sallys , BWO, Red spinners and a hatch of medium grey sedges around 21:30 but had no waterboiling effect on the trout. Nice beat although just seen 20%.
Thursday revenge ;-)

River very low, bright sun and East wind meant hard yards. Good olive hatch brought little up but river switched on for the evening spinner fall, as the wind dropped before dark. 12 Trout from 6 to 16 inches. Happy. This return covers two evening rises and a morning.

Fish really started moving at around 7pm. Lots of activity in the larger pools below the bridge, but also the shallow runs.
Landed a 17-18 inch fish and had another snap me off. Jingler and emerger flies were all they were interested in.
