Had a great morning session on the dry fly . Caught enough fish on the nymph in this stream so far this season, so decided to bring a small selection of dry flies and emerges. Plenty of rises, but managed to spook most of the fish with cluncky casting. Something I could have got away with, with higher water levels and dull light conditions. I missed a few takes on a size 16 brown Klink. Then, switched to a size 18 and managed to convince four juveniles . Not sure where all the bigger trout are, caught only juveniles this season thus far?

The river was extremely low today. Not seen it this low before. Fishing was quite difficult with the bright conditions. Some of usual pools where fish would usually be didn’t produce today. Slim pickings but managed a single small brownie, returned safely.

It's been a few years since I last fished this beat. Some interesting changes with new growth blocking the odd pool and slightly changed flow opening up new bits.
A lovely sunny day but I think the water is still a touch cold at just under 7C. I saw a fish or two in each of the deep pools but couldn't tempt them. A handful of small rises in a couple of shallow stretches but from very small fish.

Complete blank today. Very cold easterly wind which lasted all day, although it did warm up after 1.00pm. To my surprise there was a fish rising for anything that floated by including catkin buds and as I had left my willow catkin fly at home, anything I put at it, it turned it's nose up and ignored it!!

The Brook was higher and flowing faster than a few weeks ago, water slightly coloured which with the faster flow made things a bit harder. No joy in the morning, but slight improvement in the afternoon, persistence paid off with 2 WBT, both on beaded nymph.
Nice end to the trout season.

Good day, but the stream is still low, but lovely and clear. Two WBT plus one Perch and big surprise a Rudd!! All on nymph. Quite a few takes especially in the afternoon.
Farmer still has cows in the field and the electric fence is still on, but no problems gaining access.
