Another tricky but absorbing day. River very low making necessary maximum stealth. Caught steadily on a small parachute.

Found it difficult fishing with the Edw in its present shrunken state, but a peaceful couple of hours until the lads' motocross circuit alongside the river fired up in the early evening. Left the din for a bit more peace and quiet at upper Aberedw, where the parking area is currently blocked by timber and brushwood. Let's hope some habitat refreshment arrives
as forecast at the end of the week.

My 1st time fishing on the Edw and 1st time wild stream fishing. I loved it, its a cracking river and I will be back to do it again. I caught 3 wee browns all on Adams para dry at the heads of pools in the ruffled bit. Also missed a couple of very quick sub surface nymph takes.
The water was low and very clear and I must have frightened dozens of fish which I saw scappering off in all directions.
I saw maybe half a dozen feeding fish in total and I think if the water was a foot higher and pushing through a bit quicker I might have caught more. A very enjoyable few hours.

Not many fish rising but lots of takes. Mostly small fish but it was great sport. This is a great beat and I’ll be back.

As expected water levels low which made fishing challenging. Lovely setting tbough and easy access. Very rocky underfoot so wading could prove challenging to some. Few rises seen. Tried both nymph and dry fly all to no avail. Excellent day nonetheless.

A first foray onto the Edw, what a treat! Overcast & cool. Water level quite low and very clear which meant fish in the still water were very vigilant but the fast pools more than made up for this. 3 good fish up to 14" with a couple of 6" and a few takes lost. Hatches of upwings and 5pm mayfly but fish rising to what appeared to be sub-surface emergers.
One on foam indicator para-adams the rest NZ Klink & dink, ginger Klink & small GHHE with gold wire, all on nymph but dry acted as attractor on largest fish.
I had forgotten all my fly boxes & pouch, fortunately enough flies attached to hats etc and butter from sandwiches makes an adequate fly dressing.

Was quite undecided wher to go so kind of followed my nose this morning !! Ended up at the Hergest beat of the Edw !!! Overcast and a bit cooler . . . Nice !!!! Only reading 14 degrees in my truck too when I parked up at half seven . . . . . .
Water at a lovely height , maybe a tad low , but gin clear ! Fished a Para Adams and an Iron Blue the full time I was there. . . . Lovely smash takes this morning too , superb , I'm guessing half were caught timseen risers , and the remainder caught in trout looking lies !!!! With some surprisingly violent splashy takes too . . . . Lovely !!!,
It's a superb varied beat , and it's been a while since I've been here to be honest ,. . . . The Edw , Arrow and Lugg being some of my favourite small streams . As usual she didn't disappoint , with twelve gorgeous Edw spottier coming to the net , a few missed as well today , and a few long range released fish too !!! Fish ranged from six to twelve inches . . . . Cracking . Four of the tally were superb fish for here too !!,
A peaceful four and a half hours in a tranquil valley , and a nice nimble back to the truck along the fields . The beef cattle seemed well behaved , but I still kept the fence line a tactical bound away !!!! Just in case . The Cilieni next week I'm hoping and maybe the Aberedw beat end of the week . See how it pans out weather wise I guess . A great few hours , spot on , back here soon . . . . .
