Beautiful morning with the stream running clear. I fished early and caught six wbt around 4-6 inches. Nothing rising initialy so first few were caught on ptn. I then used a Parachute Adams as there were a few rises as the morning warmed up. That did the trick and I caught four and lost as many again. Donated a few flys to the trees as usual, its very overgrown on this beat.
A good few hours sport on a challenging stream.

What a lovely little stream. The wading gets difficult further upstream with quite a few obstacles and some of the pools are deeper than you think. I don’t think I made it to anywhere near the top of the beat. I fished from about 2pm to 7pm. There was quite a bit of fly life in evidence but no fish showing and I couldn’t temp anything on the dry flies. All fish were caught on either a PTN or Hare’s ear nymph and around 4 – 6 inches. Would definitely do this one again.

10 x trout 6-9 inches on a size 12 Monnow Gosling. This brook is still running fast, still with some colour, and not too much rising on the surface despite a warm evening after a hot day. However, little trout were surprisingly ready to come up to a mayfly pattern.

River very coloured due to very heavy rain all previous day.
Weather foul with heavy rain and wind. Used a nymph not expecting any result but caught 3 trout max 9in. Only stayed for 2 hours. Would like to revisit in better conditions.

Caught a 8" brown trout after 3 minutes on a wet fly. It started raining soon and only caught a 4" brown trout 30 minutes later.
River looked not very clear and casting is almost impossible because of the vegetation. Nice day, but had to stop because of heavy rain.

Spent a couple of very pleasant hours in the evening on my local brook. Caught 4 very nice trout to 8", all in good condition. Looks like the brook has been cleared since I last fished it, which must be over a year ago. A really nice stretch of water now despite there still being a bit of rubbish about and some bank slippage. Will have another go soon.

Fish from 4"-10". A couple on a mayfly nymph, the rest on an Adams. We shared a rod and John caught his first fish, which I have been trying to get him to do for two years so it was a bit of a red letter day.

11 x trout 6-10 inches, Rusty Klinkhammer and Deer Hair Emerger. A cloudy afternoon with a big wind and occasional showers. The odd fish rising, understandably enough, seemed to be focused on what was falling out of the trees. However, towards the end, I was surprised to see a mayfly, my first this year. That seemed pretty early, but all the hatches have been early this year. I put it down as a curiosity, but before too long there were some more on the water and I came across several splashy risers coming up steadily for them which studiously ignored the little Klinkhammer when put over them. I was rather caught on the hop as I had no "big fly" pattern with me, but I resorted to an outsize Deer Hair Emerger in my regular box with the idea that I would at least be able to imitate the big slanting wing. This did the trick and accounted for a couple of nice fish at the end. A pleasant chat with a gentleman from Gloucester who was leaning over the bridge and thinking about buying a Wild Stream roving ticket. I recommended he does, because a modest outlay on the ticket can get you an awful lot of fun over a season.
