Nothing much doing from 9am - 12 noon. A few fish came to the fly, but the trout were not really feeding that well. Bluebells and wild garlic looking lovely.

Arrived around midday and was surprised to find this popular beat free. River low and slow with most fish easily spooked. But I took four with a weighted nymph, the best around 10 inches.

7 x trout 6-12 inches on small Rusty Klinkhammer, one on a Goldhead Hare's Ear. This morning was a matter of finding somewhere which wasn't coloured - the Wye was and so was the Irfon. Ended up on the Edw and fished the upper part. The average size of fish on the beat seems to have gone up a bit since I last fished here, but we are going to have to do some trimming this winter I can see. Otherwise, there was a rainbow over the Edw valley for much of the morning, but it was more storm than sunshine and quite cold. Dark olives were hatching already by lunchtime.

Light rain most of day. River had droped 1ft in previous 18 hours but still had fair pit of colour and odour of cow s**t. Took a handful of small fish, all under 6". Not sure this river is fishing like it used to.

What a great stretch of wild fishing! Some rain then bright sunshine made for a constant change in the stream. Nymphs worked all morning for wild fish to 8 inches with 3 to 12 inches. Nothing bigger seen. In the afternoon a few fish were rising to the dry (small Adams) with great sport on light tackle. Really enjoyed the peace and quiet of this stretch.

River in great nick. Water clear but not as low as I've seen it previously. Few rises and even the trusty Klink failed to entice much. Small dark tungsten nymph in deeper water produced most fish including a cracking plump 12" fish that was swimming next to a trout almost twice the size!
