Frustrating day with a only a few knocks, probably from chub, to speak of. While lots of small fish activity in lower pools as the river continues to fall, the barbel and chub failed to show to pellets and meat. Lots of unwelcome midge activity due to still, damp conditions!

Treacherous conditions, slipped over numerous times on dangerous bank. River still in flood, debris coming down the river, I think this day should have been a WASH OFF!!

River up about a metre over the last two days but fortunately less weed coming down. Shared one rod in a peg with some shelter from the fast current. Fished down the edge and caught 6 barbel and a good chub of 4lbs+ at regular intervals.

Following heavy rain the previous day the river had risen about 2 feet and was well coloured. Tried our usual swims but soon found that a lot of streamer weed was coming down below the surface and it was impossible to hold a rig in place for more than 10 minutes. We moved and found a swim with a semi slack behind a bush and this produced ten takes but only seven barbel landed, the others shedding the hook.
