Great days fishing, biggest fish was 2lb and caught NZ style with deep nymph in the slower pools. French nymphing accounted for a greater number in the streamier sections. Fishing slowed in the afternoon when the sun came out but managed a further 1.5lb brownie just before leaving. Can't recommend this beat enough, great variety of fishing and Barry the beat owner was very helpful.

No salmon seen or caught, but the trout fishing was fantastic. Even in the boiling hot weather, the trout were more than willing to take a dry fly. At One point in the afternoon we had 3 grass snakes in the water with us. Lovely beat, well worth a visit. And thanks to the owner for the offer of help, we did need it!

A better day for trout with temp 21 degrees and fine but cloud cover. Opted for trout as .52m and clear. Both J and I had parr on gold-head nymphs and I hooked and lost one trout of around three quarter pound, all between two and four pm at woodstream.
I fished through to 9.45pm and was encouraged by fish rising after 8pm. Lost one nice trout of about a pound fishing upstream dry white wulff at 8pm. Decided to give the rock a rest and returned at 9pm to take 7 fish of half pound to 1lb then at 9.30pm hooked a belter cock fish at 2lb, again on the upstream dry wulff. This fish taken, all others returned.
Activity ceased by 9.45pm, so only a short window so be prepared!

I started fishing at 7pm but the sun was still too high and so just waited until about 8:30pm. At about that time the whole river came alive for about an hour and a half. I had a 2lb brownie on a sunken spider in the faster water just above the bridge. Then had a go for the fish down below the bridge which were rising like crazy. Lost a couple. A great evening's fishing!

Water .58m but slight colour so opted for salmon initially which was unsucessful at Top Run, Rock Pool, Chine and below bridge. Very warm and humid.
Went through Woodstream with greenwells nymph and deer hair sedge fished wet on dropper. I had two small trout about 6 oz and J landed 3 parr and one trout of 0.75 lb.
I had my fish on the dropper, J on a non weighted pheasant tail on the point.
Unable to stay through to evening.
No salmon showing.

A lovely evening on the river (steady at 0.62m on the gauge) Fished 3-10pm. No sign of salmo salar even as the sun was setting. Small sporadic rise at 9pm. Changed from the 15fter to an 11ft 7wt switch. Had some fun fishing a size 12 silver stoat. Three trout 1lb, 6oz and 4oz.

I couldn't fish in the morning so hit the water at about 7pm as the sun was starting to go down. A few shad seen just below the salmon. River gin clear and at a good height. Sadly no fish by 9:30pm at which point I had to leave. A beautiful evening on the river though!

Fishing from 7am after another early start. River steady at 0.8m and moderate tint. Saw approx. 15lb silver specimen show 4 times opposite Garry's new 'Stairway to Heaven' but no response to a variety of flies. Hopefully has taken up residence just off the end of the stumps. Good luck if fishing in the next couple of days.
One other salmon showed midstream opposite pub but nil seen
on Rock.
A day of dazzling sunshine and approx. 8hrs of casting exercise in beautiful surroundings. Crawled off home for a beer with a good tan.
