Fished for 3 hours one bite one chub.
On a beat that normally produces plenty of small barbel, and having not had a barbel in the previous two days, started to lose my mojo! Particularly when the two guys fishing on the end of the island, which is a very prolific swim, packed up having caught nothing
Flogging and dead horses came to mind.
Retired to Foy bridge to sink a couple of cold beers with my mate.
Next time?

Sunny start with slight breeze and a 16 degree water temperature. I picked Wyebank for the season start as the water channels through a fast run so when the rest of the nearby stretches are sluggish there's always oxygenated flow here. You have to walk the croys or wade to get to it. Not yesterday as it was 0.7 at the start and all but a metre by the time I left. It's not an easy place to fish in high water. That said I had 5 chub over 3lb and a £ and half lb barbel and lost a couple, and the only 90g feeders (GB and big pellets) I'd brought with me in the very rocky bottom mid river. Still a very enjoyable day and SO good to be back!

Lovely stretch of river with plenty of access to the water. Seemed to be a lot of snags in the middle section but we managed a few fish in between losing tackle. Other was an eel, nice to see the are still some about.

Arrived at the river to find the pool swim inaccessible due to the high levels . This was a bit of a blow but safety first ! Fished the only 2 swims available , not a lot happening here today , a complete polarisation from yesterday’s bonanza .
With the constant rain and zero action I decided to call it at 5 pm . Still a great beat and looking forward to next season
