Brilliantly sunny for most of the day and much warmer than of late. Sporadic rises from the middle of the day onward proved to be out of season grayling, with one small fish falling to dry fly. An interesting beat with a mix of slow meanders and faster water.

This is a lovely setting and was looking forward to a good day, however the weather conspired against me. Very windy, which always managed to be in the wrong direction for casting, and made casting very difficult or impossible. The river was slightly coloured after some recent rain. I hooked one fish, on a beaded Pheasant Tail, which came off almost immediately and did not see another fish all day. Which depressed me more than the contrary wind.

Water was very discolored saw no fish even though there were plenty of flies, insects around. Talking with a local he commented how the fish had disappeared from these waters over the last few years. A little disappointing.

Lovely day's fishing. Very pretty beat, with a mix of easy and challenging fishing. The trout though were not in abundance. Water still cool, no rises seen, pretty hard going.

The river was a little high, but unusually very coloured for most of the day (perhaps there was some river work further upstream?). The weather was clear and sunny, around 15 degrees, no wind. The water was still very cold and there was only a small hatch around the middle of the day, with no fish rising all day. The fish did respond to deep nymph tactics, with the best trout around 12 inches and a bonus grayling over 2 lb. Lovely day to start a late season.

Nice weather but the fishing wasn't so good. No fish caught, no hits or follows. Only saw one rise the whole time I was there. Very unusual for this beat as its normally teeming with fish. Maybe its the time of year?
Still had a good day out in the countryside and peace and quiet!

Very cold, intermittent snow. Water was coloured with poor visibility, only one fish seen - rising amongst a knot of branches in the thickly wooded part of the beat and impossible to reach. An attractive stretch and looks worth returning to when it's warm. The map may need updating as sheep fencing means that there is no access to much of the Southern bank. This isn't really a problem though as the river is so small.

Nothing caught or seen. River running very fast and quite high. No sign of fly life as cold and windy in morning. When the sun broke through mid afternoon we thought things might improve but all hopes dashed as for some reason the water started running brown which really spoilt what might have been a nice afternoon.
