Low clear water so I opted for a 12ft #8 Switch rod with a short sink tip on floating line and a double #12 Ally’s Shrimp at the end of the 9ft tapered leader, [classic Sewin set-up]. Glad I did as the 6lb cock fish, taken mid-stream just below the bridge, was far more fun on the lighter gear.
There were others moving up through the faster water in the morning but as the cloud dispersed they seemed to hold back in the deeper sections of The Creel downstream.
I think that’s me done for this season so thanks to everyone at WUF for all your help and see you next year..

Had a great day on a wonderfull river, only 4 swims but this was expected on such a short stretch. Very powerful water that is about 6 feet deep, ideally to suited to this time of the year and we were helped that river had benefited from rain earlier in the week and had a touch of colour.
Fished from 9am to 4pm and caught from the 1st cast to the last cast of the day. Started with Chub most in the 2 to 3LB range but a number of smaller Chub caught on a big stick then as day went on had more Barbel, bit misleading saying we had 35, as about 20 were about a pound. But the rest were between 3 and 5LB. Also caught a number of very large Dace up to 12 ounce.
Had to change to a Waggler early afternoon as wind became very difficult but still caught. A shame we had to leave early as the bigger fish were starting to come on the feed.

Fished the afternoon evening and caught plenty of good size Chub on a slowly rising river after some heavy rain in the morning and overnight. Unfortunately, I couldn't tempt the Barbel with pellet baits offered!

River high but falling. CD fished meat and hemp in a feeder while DF fished pellet on straight ledger rig. Three chub fell to the feeder and one to the pellet. CD was getting small twitchy bites so changed to a single swan shot ledger rig and touch legered. This produced a further three chub and some eels. Best chub were about three and a half pounds. A lovely bit of river.

River at high summer level, strong flow and good colour, weather overcast until 16.00, then sunny periods. Fishing from 15.00 until dusk. Barbel came steadily, and as seems usual on this beat, several below the pound mark. Lost by far the biggest fish after 7 or 8 minutes to a hook pull. Nevertheless another very rewarding and enjoyable day on the Wye. All fish to pellet/feeder tactics.

River quite low and clear but rained all day which probably explained the lack of canoes! A lovely place to sit and enjoy the beautiful scenery in spite of the rain. A short stretch of river but enough for 2 anglers to share. Had 3 nice chub up to just under 4lb from the deeper pool at the bottom of the fishery on the left bank, and 3 chub averaging 2-3lb and a small barbel of 4lb from mid-river half way along the right bank as dusk fell. Fish came to a mixture of pellet, luncheon meat or boilie fished on a straight lead.

Arrived at river at 9am to find it coloured and pushing through quite fast. Perfect looking conditions, humid, overcast and colour.
First barbel to mates rod, first bite at 15:15. Beautifully conditioned fish of exacty 9lb. This was followed by his second barbel, 5lb at 19:00. Both caught on garlic flavoured meat. As for me, first and only bite at 19:15 which came in a downpour and was missed. Fished until dark trying pellets of all types. Wye dropped a little then came back up a bit and we are at a loss as to why we had so few bites,on a river that looked spot on.
I suppose that's what keeps us coming back.
Cheers Graham.

River high and coloured, though falling. Weather mild but not too bright. Seemed perfect, but despite trying three swims could catch only chub until 7.30 pm when the barbel eventually came on to feed in my right bank swim not far from bridge. Large tackle-robbing snag in swim opposite!
