I wandered down the swim and thought the gravelly stretch before the rapids would be somewhere to winkle out a sole barbel but wouldn't hold fish. Given the weather I cast out anyway and had a chublet, then after no activity packed up and wandered down to the end peg on Foy common. There was an enormous shoal of chub across the whole river, 25 chub is an estimate but it could have easily been far more had I prepared hook lengths and been a more competent angler. I wasn't out to haul fish out of the river all day like it was a match. The cherry on the cake was a 3lb 2oz perch, a greedy dace even snaffled an 8mm pellet. Every chub that came out on the common was between 4lb and 5lb. I then moved back to the bridge in the hope to catch a barbel and wasn't disappointed. 2 chublets, a barbel and a sole roach from the reedy gravel swim. Fantastic days fishing.

Nice stretch with good step access to pegs. Water quite low and clear. Most Chub on trotted meat though the biggest (around 5lbs) took pellet on the feeder. Three barbel (lost a fourth), biggest around 7lbs, ground bait feeder with variety of hookbaits. First came around 10am, swim went very quiet during middle of the day, took a break for lunch and returned round 4pm and it went crazy for a couple of hours.

Warm and overcast with a good level and bit of colour. First time here having seen it from the Creel side. Booked two on here and two on the Creel (only 3 fished due to Covid) and swapped at lunchtime. 8 chub between the 3 that fished here (one blanked) so not the success of recent anglers, and no signs of barbel. A variety of feeder and bomb tactics employed.

Great access - thanks owner to the 3 or 4 swims easily accessible. River though clear had a brown stained appearance - algae? Couldnt see the weed but caught up with lots of bright green weed on the hook - good sign.

Chub to mainly meat feeder(one on pellet) with some on the float - the biggest to 5lb on stick float and tare over hemp loose feed. Late barbel - about 7lb and in pristine condition to meat feeder. Left about 4 as pub beckoned after a hot day. Must try the evening sometime.
Other fish were small chub, dace and huge bleak on tare or corn.

River levels at 0.71 on the Ross gauge. The river was dropping after a bunch of rain a few days before. I decided once I got there I would pre bait a few swims and try and nick a bite as quickly as possible. It took a while to get a bite and my 3rd swim move I finally had a chub. The spot I dropped the most bait into I started fishing at 10:00am and by 10:30 I’d had 2 barbel and 8 chub. The spot was rocking. It dried up fairly quickly tho so I put a bit more bait in and left it for an hour. It wasn’t until 15:00pm that I managed another barbel.
