Cannot remember fishing on a day hotter than this. Had zero expectancy due to heat and low water, however caught 4 medium size trout all on GRHE.
Quite a bit of algae on the edge of the water.

Low water, hooked a salmon which was a big surprise aprox 5/6 lbs,but did not land it.all trout 10-14 inches.
Late evening rise was good,but frustrating,hooked just 3 on a ballon caddis dry 16# hook. A few small ones on tungsten in the fast runs.Bridge pool was alive with fish feeding from about 8.45pm. The hatch was impressive,with even the odd may fly,injoyed the swifts taking them in mid air 4-5 ft from my head was brilliant! You really need to stay late ,fished til 10.15 .
My eyes gave up by then. Be nice to have a foot of fresh water,as it’s low. Otters calling on the other bank.

An enjoyable but difficult day due to high wind downriver and low water . The fish were taken on spiders in the fast water , and returned quickly , very little surface activity .

Six fish up to about 1 1/2 lb, all caught on nymphs in the faster water. 35+ mph wind and sporadic showers killed any chance of a hatch and made casting tricky so couldn’t tempt any to the dry.

Brutally hot and sunny day!
Unsurprisingly the fish were in the deeper, faster water.
Fished from 1500 until about 1800.

River falling from the rain and some colour... mostly on nymphs but 3 on dries later on... a day later and it would have been perfect
