Only fished up by the brook for an hour or so, no joy, will be back later in the week when hopefully Monday and Tuesday's rain has shook things up a bit.

With the water lower than hoped (just over 1ft) Salmon fishing difficult, fished through regardless, nothing to report.
In the afternoon got out the trout rod out and took 8 trout up to a pound on dries, mainly Sedge emerging patterns but some joy on Mayflies too.

Good morning!
Just a quick report:
Arrived around 7pm and had good chat with very pleasant trout anglers who were just packing up. I then went off to the top of the beat – right bank. 11" on gauge so lowish and all very quiet but great chance to see the pools. Amazing ledge in the Spring pool! – and I could see why this would be such a good holding pool. Fished down to the Willows – all of it really nice varied water which looked like it could yield fish almost anywhere at different heights. When I reached the big rock in the willow pool I was wishing for a another 10in of water – very likely spot and below toward the submerged rock – all looked very fishy. About 8.30 went to the Heirag – wow! As soon as I walked over the rock I saw a big swirl from a decent salmon - bottom left of the pool. I covered him 4 times and then a pluck and a take. Fantastic............but it was a shad that took not the salmon. I’ve never seen one before and it was quite beautiful at around 1.25lb.
I was just on the point of packing up when I thought – I must go and see the Ferry pool which looked like a nice flow. With time short and my wife waiting on the bank I ignored the neck and simply started from the boards. A superb flow at this height – great fly water. And at 9pm - a thrilling reel-singing take and I lifted into a good salmon! A heavy knock, knock and off! (I had lifted too soon in that fast water – curses)
There ended a lovely evening – so thank you so much!
All the best.

Fished the afternoon with other rods already using the beat, still the water looked OK. The top had only been fished with the fly so I went down the Spring pool with the spinner to try something different, did not touch anything. Couple of shad and trout from further down the beat was all I could manage.

Beautiful day on the Wye. Bright and warm with plenty of sunburn to go round. Water was clear, about 1'6" on the guage and falling all day. We thrashed to water for a few hours, but the bright sun kept most of the fish deep. We only managed three between us, all were under 10". A few small fish rising to various olives, pale watery, adams etc but most didn't stick.
A couple of us briefly tried fishing nymphs in the deeper channels and had a couple of pulls, but nothing more.
Lovely setting and a good day out. The highlight was probably wading across the section just below the car park and almost stepping on a pair of 15" -ish brownies holding in the thigh-deep fast water, I'm not sure which of us was more shocked.

River a few inches lower than yesterday and less coloured, fancied my chances but no fish, but was lucky enough to find SMS as he was playing a strong fresh fish in the upper Heirag. Lucky really as I thought I had lost my wallet somewhere and he kindly lent me some petrol money to get home! It turns out it was on my Kitchen Table> Idiot.

Success! After what seems hundreds of man hours, I'm happy to say I'm off the mark. First Salmon on the fly. I thought it was about 12lb, but at 34 inches maybe slightly heavier. No lice and very slightly coloured, dropped the fly in the net and swam away strongly.
Just under 2 ft on the Gauge and coloured, taken in the Cottage Pool on a Large Double Cascade tied by the one and only Jean Williams of Sweet's Tackle Shop in Usk. Bless you Jean!
Still an awful lot to learn, but nice to get some reward for my efforts, hopefully the first of many.
