15 x grayling 10-16 inches, trotting and a few on Tenkara. Cloudy, warm and virtually no wind. 18 inches on the Llanstephan gauge and fairly clear. Steady rather than frantic sport, but a nice average size of grayling. Once again, I was surrounded by hovering large dark olives this afternoon.

My first visit to this beat. Looking upstream from Lower Llanstephan when fishing there last week it looked very inviting with lots of likely looking water. One the day of my visit the gauge showed 1'9" and the air temperature was an unseasonal 14deg. Everything seemed set for a productive day but alas, no fish to speak of; one small grayling and one oos trout. The almost total absence of taps from fish told me it was just one of those days when the fish were not in the mood. Still, a nice beat and I will try it again soon.
Incidentally I found the fishing hut unlocked with the padlock seemingly unoperative.

River a little low but in great condition, fish rising early on, fantastic stretch of river. Kayaks from Surrey University were asked to to leave the river as they had not checked river levels that were way to low. 2 Grayling and 8 OWBT
(WUF Note: the Kayaks did actually leave the river)
