Salmon lost after first cast of the day at Neck of Spring and 2 salmon seen in Bachawy Pool, had to pack up at 3pm as long journey after three days fishing. Feel if we had both been a little more on the ball we would have caught on Gromain as conditions were perfect but were feeling a little exhausted after the previous days activities!!

Afternoon trying to make amends for yesterday's losses, but not today. Saw fish moving through the orchard.

Lovely height and colour. Was going to fish in the evening but news of a 6 fish morning from the Rock pool of the rectory beat had me on the water at 3pm. In neck of Dolmeudw I missed a chance. Nothing in Orchard although PS had lost one there earlier. Popped up to Gromain and met JH who had just returned an 8lber from the Leaning willow. Walked up to tail of Spring Pool and 4th cast, which landed perfectly, just off the little island was taken as it started to swing. Cracking 80-100m 1st run as the fish headed down was followed by a long long wind back! JH came up to net the 14lb bar of silver (no lice). Lovely thick set hen fish.
Fished the neck of Cottage (without falling over!) and then it was 5.30 and time to head back to work.

Not a day for them sticking, lost one in the Orchard then later in front of the hut on Gromain. After striping line from the reel from the off it decided to roll on the line and unhook itself. River looking good.

Arrived on Saturday afternoon to take a walk along river and everything looked perfect with gauge on 2' but the overnight rain was heavier than we had hoped which washed heavy colour from the Irfon down river. When we arrived at 7am Sunday there was only 6" to a foot of visibility so went straight for the spinning rods and FC's. Clarity eventually improved through the day and by 3 it was fine but unfortunately no salmon caught and just one seen head and tailing in leaning Willow. Monday was looking good for this beat but myself and my brother Phil were booked in at the Rectory!!!

Started with river at 2' seemed to be clearing a bit, rain came in later, slight rise again. Getting to know this beat more possibly not ideal conditions today, but maybe same height with more clarity in future could be worth a shot. Enormous fish jumped in the furthest end of the tail of the Orchard, could see it and matching splash from maybe 200 yards up the river, would love to know how big it was. Fingers crossed this coming week will see a decent number of fish caught in the upper wye beats. So great to see the river surging through once again.
