Second visit of the weekend and was hoping with better weather. Staring under suspension bridge and manged a decent Garyling 10inc on again JBarnes emerger pattern as there was a fair hatch at the time. Access to from Hut to Spout was very difficult and is needs attention although did manage to get to the Spout. A lot of water coming through but had no luck and didn't find the fish. Tried the Ferry Pool but again with no luck. Again weather didn't help.
PS: Had a great stay at The Cedars Guest house - Builth Wells. Best breakfast in town and easy parking outside 5 stars.

Fished a salmon rod intermittently today but mainly fished for trout with the gauge at around 1’.
Fish varied from tiny to 12-13”. Mostly caught on top dropper offerings, March Brown spider, Naylor and GRHE. A couple of the bigger ones on a Sunray.
Unusual not to hook any accidental grayling with the trout being so active. All quickly returned.

The water was running quite high and fast which, when combined with tricky wading, made access quite difficult. We fished for less than half an hour in total. Still, a nice spot and a good weather.

Beautiful sunny but cold up steam wind for late April. River clearing and falling, 1'6 perfect one would have thought, sadly not a sign of a fish anywhere ?
Special thanks to the owner and WUF for making the arrangements , Please note there was no gate key number given on your helpful beat notes, for access to the top gate off the Builth road to the top of the beat on true right bank ?
Thanks for a great day.

Underestimated the volume of water coming through and also the temperature. Arrived 9 am under heavy cold rain.
Made the trip so persevered somewhat, did manage to land one of each Trout around 12 inches and Grayling a tad smaller both on the same gold head PT nymph. Nothing seen or touched after that so retreated to the warmth of the car and journeyed home. Both species returned safely.
1 Trout, 1 Grayling
