Overcast for a lot of the day but still rather warm. Fishing was fairly slow until early evening when I caught 2 barbel and lost one in about quarter of an hour. Final total for the day was 4 barbel caught 2 lost also 2 chub caught. Very nice day although the engines extracting water to irrigate the fields very soon get on your wick, how nice it was when they turned it off for a while!

Phew wot a scorcher! I wish I knew where the barbel had hidden from the sun and heat because I would have got in there with them!
Nevertheless, arriving late and finding the deeper pools occupied, we still managed a 7lb 'gudgeon' and numerous suicidal chub to about 3lb.
Echoing a previous contributor, access is greatly improved with a number of strimmed areas which are also marked with poles (wooden ones) that you can spot from a distance or attach yourself to at those swims not blessed with a flat spot for sitting on. All canoeists well behaved.
Lovely day despite the extreme temperatures - thanks WUF!

11 Barbel to almost 7lb and 6 Chub to 2.5lb. This is one of the most Angler friendly beats I have fished with the vegetation strimmed and even a map in the hut showing the most productive areas. Very useful for those fishing it for the first time.

Thank you once again for allowing me to fish this brilliant river. I had a fantastic weekend on Whitehouse. In 3 days I caught 65 Barbel to 9 lb 2 oz, and at least as many chub.
The more I fish this river, the better it seems to get, although the river was quite low and little flow, it didn't seem to matter, the fish were hungry for my baits, mainly small 8mm pellets and small cubes of meat. I also saw a lot of salmon jumping all weekend.

3 of us fished the first day in bright sunshine which put the fish off as results were not as we hoped. 4 barbel to 8lb 12oz were caught with 6 chub and also one of the group managed to catch himself a shad on breadflake. Lovely to be out on the river anyway.

Another cold start to the day, with a light frost. Not good for barbel fishing. We knew from the previous day that maggot would be the bait to use. The fishing was hard work for most, although one rod did manage 12 Barbel and 2 Chub. 2 other Barbel and 3 Chub to the other 3 rods. Thanks again to the Wye Usk Foundation for a superb service.

Very cold and frosty overnight and with the river low and clear we didn't expect much action. In fact between the two of us we didn't have a bite all day despite moving swims and trying light lines and small baits. Roll on the warmer days of summer!

Fished for barbel all day in one spot hoping to intercept any on the move. Not a touch all day. Water temp was 40deg so not really surprising. The wind was rather cold but sitting behind the shelter in the sun was very pleasant. I was booked in for the following day when I had planned on a more mobile approach. Overnight the temperature dropped to minus 5 so I did not even bother going back, I went home instead. Roll on the start of the new season!

Arrived at whitehouse at 8.30 after a walk i managed to find a peg I fancied at the bottom end of the beat and away i went. I had a chub about 4lb first chuck and another second chuck. Lost 1 third chuck then waited 15 mins for the next bite and landed a lovely barbel about 8lbs all on pellet. Then it was just like someone switched the fish off and I didnt have another bite on the feeder which coincided with the cold easterly wind getting up but managed 2 small chub and a stray trout on float fished sweetcorn towards the end of the day. A very nice beat and will fish again in the summer thanks very much Wye and Usk Foundation
