Difficult day as could not find the fish despite trying several swims. Only hook up was an eel which fortunately dropped off at the net .

EPR and I love this beat. Stunning scenery and wildlife, as well as great fishing. When we have spoken to the farm owners they are very polite and helpful. The dog ate a lot of EPR pellets and bollies whist he was playing a barbel which was entertaining!
The circling buzzards is always a highlight as is the stunning scenery.
The river was rising and slightly coloured. We couldn't hold bottom with a 60g feeder over half way. There was quite a lot of rubbish coming down the river throughout the day.
EPR had a stunning day after yesterday's misery (see Sugwas Court review) with an award winning 12 barbel and 1 chub. He would have caught plenty more but for his arrogance and need for cider, which demanded we left before dusk. I caught 4 barbel and three chub.
Thank you WUF. We shall be back next year.

Parked at the farm behind the gate as look to steep and muddy for our little van (short walk). Lovely looking place, there is a noisy pump in the middle of the beat though didn't run all day. Good conditions we caught 5 eels in this area on meat, did a lot of walking and covered whole beat. Plenty of places to fish if you clear swims in the downstream area.

First trip on this beat and was very happy with the water available. Very hot and bright with 2 fish coming between 6:30 and 7:00 am with the rest in the evening. 12 Barbel and one Chubb all caught on pellet.
It would be nice to see the riverside path cut back as it becomes overgrown and impassable after about 100 meters and there looks to be some lovely swims if it was cut back. This aside having walked only the section from the parking to the down stream limit there is more water easily available than can be fished in a day.
Huge thanks to Wye and Usk as this is a fantastic beat and a pleasure to fish.

Arrived to find the river carrying some much needed extra water, though it did mean that I couldn't fish swims I had fished on previous visits. Had my first barbel after 30 minutes and then nothing for the next four hours, when I had an eel. Then had three barbel in quick succession, biggest approx seven pounds. Finished off with a chub and packed up about six thirty. All fish taken on halibut pellet hook baits and feeder combination.
The gods must have been smiling upon me when I booked White House, as the day before my visit I attempted to play badminton for the first time in many years and sustained an injury to my Achilles. I was able to park close to my chosen swim and very slowly get my gear down to the river's edge bit by bit. I'm sure this would not have been possible on a number of other venues! A hospital visit today (27/08)has established that I have possibly ruptured my Achilles and am now sitting typing this with a cast on my left leg.
(WUF: Wishing you a speedy recovery)

1 fish in 3 days didn't help with the bright weather and low river. I've got to say I'm very disappointed in the Wye and Usk Foundation. Could only fish a quarter of the stretch. No effort made to cut out any pegs. When your paying £22 a day to fish you think it would be the least they could do. Will certainly not book any fishing with the WUF again. You can fish the opposite bank of there stretches for half the price or even less and night fish.
