Wonderful setting and great variety of sections with good access. Had some eels taking our pellets and fun also had sight fishing for large chub and barbel in the upstream section, bewitching stuff. Will be back...

First time on this beat for me and my son. Managed to find some juvenile barbel to keep us entertained for the day. We had a very nice day and there were numerous different swims to try, each with their own challenges. We will be back and hopefully get into the bigger fish next time! All fish taken on feeder and pellets.

Beautiful spot, terrible fishing! My wife and I have fished this beat a couple of times before and had a lot of success but just couldn't buy a bite this time. River was just starting to rise and the swim looked great for barbel and chub but not a tap all afternoon or evening on either pellet or meat. I guess that's just the way it is with fishing sometimes and one of the reasons the mystery of rivers draws me back. Will certainly be back despite a poor day as I know the beat's potential from other sessions. Kingfisher whizzing back and forth all day was a lovely distraction from the motionless rods.

river extremely low now. as not fished here before turned up for a river showing its bones. the only likely looking swim another angler was set up in so i roved the lower section with no success not even a knock. lovely stretch of water but really does need a couple more feet of water to fish well. even the reliable chub were not playing ball today. a few large salmon showing

First session of a 4 day trip to the Wye. We'd never fished White House before so took time to walk the whole beat before deciding to fish in the left field. I fished the first Croy and my mate fished further downstream. With 2 diesel extraction pumps going for most of the day it was pretty noisy coupled with rain from a drizzle to full pelt was not the best of days. Despite trying pellets, luncheon meat, and bread only action of the day was from a sub 2lb Barbel.

River was low and the day hot; not ideal conditions for fishing. Started off with a roving approach from first light picking up a couple of decent chub. Spent much of the time later in the day in the swim just upstream from the fishing hut. A few decent fish were holding up there in the faster, deeper water and things looked promising; however they proved difficult to tempt using a variety of approaches (swim feeding pellet, legered meat, float etc). Managed a couple of barbel up to 5lb and a few small chub, however the bigger fish proved illusive. Really enjoyed the day despite the slow fishing. Its a lovely stretch of river with lots of decent fish and interesting swims. We will definitely return another day when conditions are more favourable.
