Tried many dries and nymphs but nothing caught - lovely stretch of river though, will return I'm sure.

River was a good level, although slightly coloured after some rain overnight. Weather was sunshine and showers and quite windy so very litte action on the surface. We both spent the majority of the day nymphing with sucess on a hares ear and pheasant tail patterns - but needed weighted patterns to get them down.

2 trout at about 10-12 inches and 2 at 6-8 inches, all safely returned.

Another great day and looking forward to my next visit.

Cracking beat, plenty of fly on the water, midges, olives, sedge, cranefly but sadly minimal rising fish. Managed to connect to three one of 1.5lb one of 1lb and the third a wee specimen of 7 inches rose two others lost the one and missed the take on the other.

1 trout caught & released late afternoon using a nymph fly. River was clear and weather fine and dry. Saw a couple of other trout rousing late afternoon but no further catches.

Between the 2 rods we caught 5 wbt - the best to around 1.5 lbs (all returned safely). All were caught using small nymph patterns fished across-and-down. Lost 3 larger fish, again all hooked on small, dark nymphs/spiders.
No hatch to speak of, and despite staying late in the day we only saw 2 rising fish.
River looked perfect, and with a little more warmth will get us back for another crack.

It tried really hard to be a nice day but a gusting cold north westerley diluted the affects of sunny spells.
A brief calm period at lunch time saw a steady hatch but no fish expressed any interest. Nymphing was equally unproductive. A fiesty 8 inch WBT was the sole outcome of the day. Not much to show for a 400 mile round trip
Thanks Alison for excellent service as usual. Cracking pint of Wye Valley at the Bell.

Overcast day with high SW wind, thankfully somewhat warmer than recent arctic conditions. The river still quite high and slightly coloured. One 12" BT caught on gold head ptn. Some fly life but no fish rising. My first trip to Skenfrith, but I will be back as it has some lovely pools and it must be a great dry fly beat when the trout are rising.

Fished New Zealand-style. Saw nothing moving or rising. Water low and very cold. Vaguely depressing, actually.

River coloured, very cold. Only saw one March Brown hatch mid afternoon. No fish showing whatsoever. Fished upstream, downstream with nymphs, wets and dries to no avail. Quite a lot of agricultural litter trapped in bankside shrubs (sacks, twine, tyres, etc). Wading mildly uncomfortable due to depth, flow, water clarity and river bottom.
Would still fish here again, but when it's warmer and clearer (so fish could be seen) with a better chance of a hatch.
