My favourite beat on the WUF. Although we as had a very productive day on the bank as with other beats we visited on our trip, access to parts of the beat were unmaintained, thus unfishable. For the fee that anglers pay the upkeep of the beat should be paramount to make anglers want to return again.

We fished on Middle Hill Court, it was a very wet day and the fishing was very difficult. We managed 2 good Barbel about 8lbs and 5 chub the best was about 4lbs. So a decent catch given the conditions.

We fished one of the last swims to the right. The only swim that comfortably fitted 2 anglers. The river is deepest at that point and quite fast flowing.
It was an overcast day with some light rain now and then so conditions seemed perfect. We fished for 9 hours. We had an early 8lb barbel and a nice 3 1/2 lb chub. We had one more chub around the same size lunch time and then the river switched off! Nothing for the next 6 hours. It does appear that the fish like feeding early on this river. My advice would be make an early start and make the most of your morning. Also the banks are steep so wear some grippy shoes.

Change of plans meant a short morning session fishing alone with stretch to myself. Lost fish first cast, then proceeded to lose lots of tackle to snags trying to find fish in four different swims. One eel the only return. Not the best session ever.

Good river conditions but fresh rain needed to liven the water up. All fish taken on pellet, we fished from noon til 21.00 so all in all more fish would have a bonus but a good day. A lovely stretch of water with fabulous wildlife, a large Grass Snake swam right past me!

River looked perfect and we were expecting a good day but for some reason the river had switched off and 9 hours fishing brought us just 3 bites and 3 small barbel. The chub had completely disappeared.

We fished the very last pegs down stream in this section well the 3rd to last and the last as the other one had a wasp nest there not good company. it was over cast and the river looked perfect we had bites through the day and a very even catch I had 11 barbel to 9lb and Mike had 12 barbel to 8.5lb a good day all fish fell to 4mm pellet feeder with 12mm halibut pellet on the hook tried the meat but the chub were all over it so the barbel did not get a look in, we both fished in the deepest part of our pegs. My only complaint was these pegs have steep steps and the angler who had fished here before me using red groundbait obviously did not want to go up them when he wanted a wee so I had the strong sweet smell of urine for the day thanks for that, well worth the walk for the fishing though a very good section of the river a lot of salmon showing out of the water as well.

River had risen several feet over night and was coloured. Could hold bottom with 90 grm feeders and had intermittent action during the day on pellets.
