River low and swims changed a lot since last year with the floods.
Barbel hard to temp with all the usual offerings had to wait till the evening to get a few although they were jumping out of the water all day! My son had 35 Chub on the float to 5lb on hemp and sweetcorn in 2 hrs before the sun and arm ache got the better of him. Feeder tactics gave him 5 more Chub and 1 Barbel.
I stuck to the feeder mostly 16 Chub and 4 Barbel being my reward.
My 60th season angling and a fabulous day spent with my son on the beautiful river Wye. All the bird life and catching fish is a bonus.
Thanks Wye and Usk Foundation and to the baliff Colin for keeping the swims so beautifully mown and strimmed. Good to see Colin and catch up on the changes to the beats swims and best approach to find the fish.

A very well kept beat. Lots of chub on the float and a couple of barbel on pellets. A very enjoyable day. Levels very low, needs plenty of rain. Thanks.

Having risen by a few inches last week, the river had dropped right back and was running crystal clear. Bright sun and a temperature of 27 degrees made roving a non-starter so spent a great day admiring the scenery.

River, low, warm and clear. Chub feeding, the barbel were unpredictable as to what time of day they would feed. No issues with the Foundations service, data provided was excellent and overall, a great two days fishing. Here's to next time.

11 barbel to 8lbs and 14 chub to 4lbs between the two of us. This was a very enjoyable day - with some fish in lovely condition. Good access path and lots of swims to choose from, this is a very well maintained beat - thanks to Colin.

This was a 'wind down day' after fishing the Wye for six days. Checking out of digs and the journey home meant we fished just about five hours. The day turned into a nature watch due to lack of action. A family of swans gave us some entertainment and we saw the usual kingfisher but most interesting was a couple of egrets which are not exactly common in England and aren't those azure blue damsel flies beautiful. Anyway after about three hours I finally got a bite from a nice chub followed by another. Both were about three pounds. PB also caught a couple and so ended another brilliant weeks Wye fishing. We were disappointed not to meet Colin the bailiff as we just dropped into the closest swims and a bit of advice would have been handy! Being registered disabled and 70 plus, I am not very agile and have to pick my spots carefully. Many thanks to the WUF for making the stretches available, we will be back next year.

Another great day. Lost count of chub. 4 barbel caught long-trotting at far end of beat. Sweetcorn used as bait. Many chub caught.
Other method was swim feeder with 2 foot hooklink. 10mm boilies on hair.

Low river - swim feeder and 20 inch hooklink - 10mm source boilies and tuna and chilli boilies. Lost count of chub - catching immediately on drop - couldn't even sit down! Pity we were fishing for barbel!
