River running high after recent rains and chocolate coloured. A tough day but still enjoyable.

3 Barbel, 7 Chub

Fished the lower part of the beat, river 2' up but dropping slowly throughout the day. Weather was cloudy to start and then rain moved in later. All fish fell to pellet and feeder tactics. Unfortunately the river was pushing through just a little to much to get the float tackle out. Plenty of wildlife to be seen, first time I have seen an otter up close on the Wye, popped up out of the water about 8' away. Beat is still very well maintained, the walk to the end of the fishery seems to take longer every year or maybe it's just me getting old! Did not fish Monday as weather forecast said rain all morning on the 20th and 2 soakings that weekend was enough.

Fresh 11lb springer on a yellow & black 1.5 inch tube, intermediate line and sink tip. This is my first Wye salmon!

River was high and coloured. we could not find the gauge until the water dropped about a foot at the end of the day when the gauge appeared just under the surface. Too fast for the fly and we ran a spinner along all the length of the beat all day. the odd fish jumped and I almost trod on a fish in the edge in a gully. Water very cold with all the fresh water coming down
Don't really no what refers to a wash off day. Bad day, but weather fine and dry

Water very high above marker and coloured, possibly saw 1 fish but nil return

River conditions were excellent with about 3 ft of water and clearing nicely. Despite the excellent guidance from Colin Richardson, the Ghillie at Holme Lacy and covering the complete beat using flying 'C's and spoons, we saw no Salmon all day and no fish caught.

A 25lb fish – been in the river three or four weeks – on a Flying C. Fourth Cast! A terrific fighting fish but safely returned.

Water high and over all the cribs and we struggled to find any fishable water. Combined with a N W gale, hail and rain at times a very unpleasant day. The fish obviously agreed and did not put in an appearance. Where do all the chub go in the winter?

Much better weather conditions but the water was still cold. Just one chub.
