River still above normal height, fast and just over the cribs. To fish midstream meant big feeders (4-5oz) and moving around to find a fish. Enjoyable day but fish hard to come by.

A very cold and crisp morning giving way to a very warm and pleasant early afternoon, the river level about 6 feet above normal and still flowing quite fast.
The level did drop a few inches during the day but all the usual tactics, baits and sneaking about didn't pay off and yielded no fish.

River very clear, struggled all day. No sign of barbel but my first grayling saved the day. Fantastic stretch of river.

Started near the head of the Island on the bend in two beautiful looking pegs, with steady flow on the inside and pacy water towards middle for pellet feeder attack. Unfortunately although looking perfect, little or no action other than trout and grayling on float. No signs on feeder so started leap frogging back down the stretch on the feeder and pellet, meat, maggots, bollies etc. Only proper fish being a 4lb Chub caught in middle of stretch on feeder and meat as light was fading, although whole day was dull and overcast. No other anglers (or Barbel for that matter) seen on three days fishing on WUF waters in spite of near perfect conditions.

Having struggled on Middle Hill Court the previous day we optimistically thought Holme Lacy would produce the goods as in previous trips. Sadly, upon arrival and observing the river level our hopes dived. Once again struggled to hold bottom in most places despite using 7oz of lead! The amount of debris coming down river made presenting a bait very challenging. All four anglers blanked including Birthday Boy P, who was hoping to catch his first Barbel. Better luck next time I guess. Still one of my favourite beats.

River a bit higher than we had anticipated but still fishable with heavy feeders. By the end of the day it had dropped further and although still fast look spot on. Regrettably the fish didn't seem to realise this and only one chub came to the net. Nevertheless the scenery, weather and company were perfect and Colin came along for a chat later on, so all in all a very pleasant day.

Afraid nothing caught between the three of us. Second visit to this beat with good access and easy parking.

Spent half the day in search of pike dropping a deadbait in 3 likely slack areas & same areas again later in the day without any luck. Tried an hour lure fishing, no luck, just a follow to the bank from a small pike, better luck next time maybe? River was in fishable conditon given the amount of rain we've had. River banks very very slippy so do take a spike & rope with you on your next trip. Many thanks to Colin for the chat, river conditions & information he gave me, also to the Foundations booking service. It's so easy.

The River Wye was bombing through and in angry mood only about 30 % of the beat was fishable with 4oz plus of lead needed everywhere!
We did find one peg later in the day with some slack water free of debris and had one big barbel bite that produced an epic scrap nearly pulling my son in! Sadly a hook pull at the rim of the landing net ended hopes of a happy ending-the eight year old was surprisingly mature at this disaster (far better than his distraught 37 year father!
Should be prefect by Thursday-good luck to whoever has booked on Thursday you lucky souls!!
