Incredible place, lots of different options. I'm very new to wild fishing and wasn't my day for it but worth every second there

One 16" skinny BT on the dry. Taken on a small emerger, at the tail of one of the deeper pools. Most of the rising fish seemed to be sitting in the shallower water - 18" or slightly more.

Bright and sunny with a cold downstream wind. Counted 5 LDOs and no rises. The track is a bit rough - decent ground clearance required.

Fished for salmon on Ashford Bend and Beech Pool but nothing happening, about midday the wind rose and the rain moved in so retired for lunch. The Usk Valley was looking beautiful, though Autumn closing in, maybe a chance for salmon over the next week or two when the water clears as the river has been high for a decent amount of time. Tight lines to others.

Water cleared since day before, still murky but fished for salmon for a couple of hours, had a pesky trout have a go, then got a serious tug, maybe a salmon? Nothing caught.

A half decent hatch, only a few rising fish- but couldn’t work out what they were feeding on. Did have a couple of trout on the euro in the faster water. Lovely beat, would be fantastic early season I imagine. Access pretty good however I did return to my car surrounded by a dozen cattle- a stand off. Finally they moved on with no damage to car. A good day.
