A disappointing afternoon and evening. Arrived around noon to find very little fly activity and precious little showing in the way of fish. A fitful breeze that switched from upstream to downstream in an instant and nearly blew my hat off. Tried dry and nymph. Hooked and lost one small brownie early-on with a brown Klinkhammer. Otherwise nothing. Spent a good three quarters of an hour covering rising fish at the top of the beat at around 8:30, They were mainly small fish, but there was was one sizeable one that kept wagging his tail at me. Tried all shapes and sizes, but whatever they were taking, it wasn't what I was offering. Maybe I should have been there in the morning!

Excellent day despite bright and breezy conditions. A little colour in the water following the recent rain probably helped. 8 WBT to the net + 1 salmon parr. All safely returned. Most WBT in the 6-10 inch range, but I netted a spectacular specimen that was at least 16 inches. A variety of flies proved to be successful - olive klink, copper john and yellow may spider during the daytime; parachute adams in the evening. Missed loads of takes so could have had more. Was snapped by another large fish also. Fantastic day!

Second day on Glan-yr-Afon. Still tough fishing due to the low water and bright sunshine. However, managed 12 fish in total, most on nymphs fished down through the faster runs and pocket water. Three of the fish were 12", two were 10" and the rest were 8" or less. Really lovely bit of water. Can imagine that it is fantastic if you catch it on the right day.

Cracking beat. Some lovely glides and pools, interspersed with fantastic cascades and riffles. River very low and clear after the hottest April on record! Rod one caught nothing, rod two had five fish of 7", 9", 10", 10" and 16.5". Epic spinner fall in the evening of tiny (size 16-18) upwinged flies. Possibly BWOs? Unfortunately had no spinners this small. However, the biggest fish took a BWO pattern flattened to resemble a spinner! Lost a really big fish of 20"+ that took a Deer Hair Emerger.

Tough day but enjoyable - blustery conditions and bright skies meant that no fish seen rising. However the fish were there, 6 trout to 1/2 - 1 1/2 lbs all caught on copper head PTN. One taken for the table - others returned.

A good day to be a Large Dark Olive! A spectacular hatch but none of them being eaten. Water was very cold and we could only assume that this was what was keeping the fish from feeding. We saw one trout rise once and all manner of tactics failed to catch. It was a beautiful day though and lovely to be on the water again.
