Two of us fished hard from 11am to 6pm. We managed 7 trout (x5 on spiders and x2 on nymphs) and missed a few on dries. Unfortunately, we experienced another cold, downstream wind which probably explained the lack of fly life. We did notice a few LDO's and MB's towards the end of the day which brought up a few fish but they never really switched on. Nevertheless, a good time was had on such a beautiful and accessible stretch of river. Look forward to another visit when it warms up a bit.

12 x trout 6-14 inches, spiders - Waterhen Bloa and Snipe and Purple - and dries - Olive Jingler and Parachute Adams. The Usk is now down to fishing height and colour, but this was really hard work due to a cold start (3 degrees) and a very cold downstream wind through the day. Almost no hatching fly seen although a few olives finally turned up around 3 in the afternoon. For the first time in the day, a few fish rose (not many) and gave us a brief chance with a dry fly

Worked from the bottom beat up to the bridge then halfway on the right bank. Sunny day with clouds forming in the afternoon. Fished a pheasant tail nymph along the left bank. Some restricted access so lots of in and out the water. Nothing doing before lunch. First cast on right side down from bridge and small black spider fished on the surface was grabbed by a 8 oz brownie. Worked down the right bank, much better access this side. Three more fish falling for same fly. Recommend the upper part of the beat from the car park if looking for easier access.

A great day's fishing. The river was just about fishable following recent rain but it was clearing throughout the day. Another stiff, cold downstream wind with little fly about. Most fish were taken on spiders but it was nice to take a couple on dries towards the end.

Nice water, a few fish rising around lunch, no march browns which was odd.

15 x trout 9-15 inches, Waterhen Bloa, Dark Moorgame, Woodcock and Hare's Ear. Bright and sunny, but wind still cold at times. River high but clear and just about back into fishing condition. Hatches sparse - large dark olive, march brown, stone fly. All on spiders today; nothing much to be done with the dry fly it seemed.
