a total disaster, water at 1ft6 on gauge which was just fishable but i parked at the lower limit car park on the true left bank. i spent more time walking to try and get in the water than fishing , as i got half way up the beat i noticed all the better fishing was from the right bank with easy access to the water. fed up i went back to the car and just left for home. several other anglers there as well. will probably not fish again due to that reason. did hooked 4 all of decent size but lost all to hook pulls trying to stop them getting into the fast water. nice to see it though as not fished here before but for the extra tenner dinas to me is far better.

River at much better level than yesterday. Early LDO hatch then lots of MBs through afternoon til 4.00. Only pricked one on the dry, then landed 3 on nymph and one on spiders. 4 Fish 12 to 14 inches. Can’t seem to do very well during the hatches. Feisty beasts tho.

3 x trout 11-14 inches, Waterhen Bloa, Dark Moorgame, Woodcock and Hare's Lug. A rather sparse large dark olive hatch went on for quite a while during the afternoon, joined later by a few march browns. A few trout are, now, starting to show their heads at the surface. I managed to rise several more with a Jingler....and missed every one of them!

Beautiful day on a beat I hadn’t visited before. 1 lovely wbt on deep peeping caddis. Quite a bit of fly life coming off (LDO and some March Brown, I think) and a rise around lunch time but I couldn’t fool any of them. Thanks to WUF. I will return.

3 x trout 12-15 inches, Waterhen Bloa and Dark Moorgame spiders. A tough midday session with a cold downstream wind - it actually felt much colder than the 7 degree air temperature recorded. The river was also very cold and doesn't seem to be dropping much - I guess that snow-melt is feeding it steadily. A fair old trickle of large dark olives between 12 and 2 but, for the most part, the trout were not rising for the duns on the surface. I suppose it is still too cold and we must be patient for a few days more. However, today's catch would have been just one trout if was not for WUF supporter John Lewis, who mentioned during one of those long bank-side chats that he had noticed a couple of fish show on the far side of the river. Anyway, John feeling rather chilled went off for his lunch and I tried the spot with spiders for a pleasing result. Many thanks!

4 Fish 12 - 15 inch. Fished for just half an hour at lunch time but hit it right despite a howling, cold downstream wind. Fish were active whenever wind dropped. Mixture of LDO and a few March browns on the water. The previous day I had 1, of 14 inches.

3 x trout 12-16 inches, Waterhen Bloa, Dark Moorgame, Woodcock and Hare's Lug. Still quite chilly with some snow left lying about (but best if it doesn't melt too fast to avoid the river flooding). Water still high spring level at 1ft 4 inches, running clear.
An extended hatch of large dark olives went on for a couple of hours, but no duns seen being taken on the surface - the dry fly rod seemed to be redundant. However, presumably the emerging nymphs were of some interest, because there were a series of halfhearted takes on spiders, most of which I failed to tighten into. Of the three which did stick, one was a nice fish.
