Fished early morning 7am-10:00, a bit suicidal given the temperatures, no fly life except small midges, no fish moving. I think the water temperature is still too low. Many caddis larvae on the bottom.
We stayed at the Whitehouse Country Inn, literally 2 mins from the beat.

Beautiful beat and lovely sunny day but unfortunately nothing hatching and no fish to be seen all day. Tried every nymph in the box with no luck, looking forward to coming back once the water has warmed up a little!

After speculating with the Duo in the morning a swap to long leader nymphing around noon caught a 16", 15"and a 14" all on a size 14 tungsten gold head hairs ear, all in good condition.A good hatch of March Browns started around 1.30pm which got some good fish moving in the lower pool. Two fish were hooked and lost on a Deer hair quill emerger which was frustrating.The hatch finished as quickly as it started so I spent the after noon exploring the upper section of the beat.

2 wbt 3 l/2lbs & 2 1/4lbs both caught on nymphs both fish returned safely. Great location, will definitely return.

Water was clear until about 1pm then they coloured up and we packed in. Good hatches of March Browns before water coloured.

Melt water and bright sunlight made for a challenging days fishing! Both fish at a lb. trickle of LDO and MB but nothing rising to them. Fish had on tungsten hares ears

A cold day, but fish started to move at about 11. Lard dark olives hatched, not in any great numbers but got the fish moving. A nice beat, the lower section is lovely! Will be up to fish this again soon.....

A stunning beat. I fished after a long dry spell but a night of rain. Disappointingly, there was a hatch all day but I only saw one fish freely rising all day. I saw one other large trout moving, but having fished 3 W&UF beats now and only caught one brown trout on a nymph, I'm concerned that not much of the £17 day ticket is going into stocking!
WUF Note: As far as we are aware, there are only one or two remaining fisheries that stock trout into the Usk. The Foundation's policy, and that of many fishery owners (to whom most of the day ticket revenue is passed to), is to boost wild stocks by investing in the restoration of habitat and access to spawning grounds. River a bit low and clear but some nice fish rising, no takes. Young mink and big cormorant cleared several of the pools before me.

Tried fishing dry flies and nymphs but no fish hooked or caught.
