Few hours with a wet fly. Nothing caught. Lovely spot and good access.

A high lightly coloured river that rose at first then slowly fell. Rain and wind. Late in the afternoon a smattering of LBD and Olives tempted a few trout to rise but continuous high water has not given this spring the best of starts.

Good numbers of small fish rising and willing to take the fly from mid afternoon. All were 8 to 12 inches.

Water levels were around 0.620 and challenging contitions. The brown trout caught measured from 25 cm - 38 cm (10 - 15"). All of them were caught on nymphs upstream, Duracell's, Croston's, Roza's and PT size 14 - 16.

Difficult conditions to fish in as the rain started intensifying throughout the session.

Another bitter northerly. Nothing hatching. Managed to winkle one out. Hard going.

All fish taken on nymphs, combo of ESN and Duo.
Temperature down to 5/6 deg. Cold wind upstream and light drizzle on and off.
Light Olive hatch during the day. Fish didn't seem to be dialed into them. Odd fish rising inconsistently, observed them being very selective and allowing multiple naturals to drift over them and not move. The fish were more active very late in the day.

first visit to Penpont fished 9 - 3pm cold easterly wind no sign of hatch, manger 2 brown's on nymph from pocket water
