Not as much fly life around as previous trips to Llangoed this season.
2 small trout in the faster runs on nymphs. I in Llangoed pool tail late afternoon on size 20 f fly.

Washed off Sunday, today was the Wye’s redemption. Looked in tremendous condition. Much lower level, 90% clear and cooler (and fresher) than a couple of weeks ago. Very little rising although I managed two on J G Emerger about 8am. The rest fell to a pink tagged hares ear variation, on the dropper whilst euro-nymphing in the many channels. Ideal conditions, until the sun really did come out late morning.

12oz and 6oz both returned in good condition. Both caught on nymphs. Not many fish rising. Smaller fish caught in fast water using Czech nymphing technique. Idyllic stretch of river. We stay at The Manor in Crickhowell - ideal for anglers: good standard accommodation and access to the Usk and Wye. Fishing Passport is a fantastic service for accessing fishing - it would be a nightmare of internet trawling without! Thank you.

Unfortunately the coloured run off from the Irfon which was in flood the previous day, made fishing very difficult

River very low. Concentrated on the southern section. Very few flies flying and few rises. Tried nymphs and kept catching good sized shads.

Stayed at the Pantry B and B in Erwood. Excellent and right next door to the Wheelwright pub so short walk home after dinner.

A dozen or so on and offs /LDRs and just one trout to hand.
The one took an F Fly. Pleased to get one on a dry!
